NOSTALGIA

Starting off with 16 year old Justin Bieber, what an Icon. Embarrassingly enough, I think Justin Bieber was my first celebrity crush when I was at the ripe age of six or seven. But I am not even sure if I would really count it because I do not remember actually freaking out over him, but I could be lying since I don’t even really remember LOLL. Pop music really made its wave for me in the early 2000’s. I have grown to dislike it a bit as it does not carry the same weight it did years ago.

In general, I think throwbacks are the most universal amongst my own social circle. People nowadays strive to have their own unique identity (which is awesome to see), hence the extreme difference in music taste. But these bangers hold nostalgia for everyone. This song specifically brings me back to my childhood, specifically a video of me singing this song karaoke version. Horrendous, but impressive?? Did I miss a key? A few yes, but did I miss a beat? No.

Hate to admit Chris Browns music is good because of the trash person he is, but that’s a whole other rant. This is another hit that I can’t resist dancing to. The beat evokes movement. Anyways, this song transports me back to simpler times. I think that’s the purpose of why people create. They want to create this staple, or timestamp in their life, reflecting on their own experiences at that moment to reminisce about it later.

It is strange that I can remember the feeling or emotions of younger times, but not actual events? Granted I have the memory of a goldfish. Not sure how to explain this next brain fart so stay with me. I wonder how many memories I claim to remember but I gaslight myself into thinking i remember it because I saw a photo. There is a term for this that I learned in AP Psychology but… it has been a while lol.

Let’s get straight to it. Who’s your favorite Jonas Brother? I am a Nick Jonas girl tee hee. I remember being in love with him when I saw him on Disney channel. That my shit growing up. My television knowledge is mostly composed of Disney classics. A blessing and a curse because the minute someone brings up a nickelodeon classic, I am clueless. Camp Rock? Camp Rock 2 Nick Jonas??? Yup. I unintentionally saw Joe Jonas a few years ago at one of those jingle ball concert things, when he was in that other band. Pause lemme search up the band name. DNCE yes that one.

When I was younger, I was convinced the lyrics were “I took a shit to the year 3000”. Fast forward to a few years later, found out those are NOT the correct lyrics, who would have guessed. “I took a ship to the year 3000”. Uhhh personally I think my version had more of a kick to it, but whatever I guess. I feel young again every time I listen to this one, OOO or Burnin’ up, thats a banger too.

When is Rhianna releasing new music??? A huge artist on my throwbacks playlist, considering she would make banger after banger (and she’s stunning). When it comes to a female celebrity crush, Rhianna always comes up on the cards, I mean, how could she not. STUNNING. Also I really fw her makeup line Fenty Beauty, that foundation and concealer is no joke and really covers up the lack of sleep.

Though this entry embodies looking back into my “more youthful” years, I cannot help but classify this genre of music as your go to party tunes. I decided to go with this track specifically because it checks off the boxes for a good party song. Upbeat and catchy. If you do not feel bonita listening to this song, I am not really sure what to tell you. Listen to her other tracks??LMAOO WAIT, just realized I put Chris Brown and Rhianna in the same entry. Unintentional and ironic asf.

My immediate memories with this song is the choreography in Just Dance. An iconic game of my child hood that I assure you I can still win at (not to toot my own horn of course). I would absolutely devour ‘On the Floor’ by Jennifer Lopez and ‘Circus’ by Brittney Spears. The nostalgia and memories rooted in music is what makes it all more enjoyable. This game was my shit, alongside Mario Kart. Ohhhhhhh do not get me started about Mario Kart. Im a Yoshi gal and also cracked at that game.

Avril is one of the artists that will pass my mind once in a blue moon and I wonder what they are doing. You see artists in the current music industry, working even after decades. But you also have the artists that simply peaked in a certain period. Or maybe I am completely bullshitting and just haven’t followed Avril Lavignes activities. I am actually going to search up right now her musical activity, stand by. (Approximately 2 Minutes Later). SHES ON TOUR??
